dusty earth
drinks in the morning rain
payback in thistles
drought
Hope of Rain
dark clouds drift eastward
carrying our hopes of rain
to cheer other folks
Dust Clouds
dust clouds on country roads
the faithful head to church
prayers for rain
River
who can believe
this river — a dried mud flat now
will rage come spring
Merciful
once more we see
our God is merciful
rain on parched fields
Rainwater
welcome rain water
soaks into the cracked earth
drowning the drought
One Last Croak
This post is for those who would prefer a pure limerick.
(Warning: facial tissues alert)
Alas, Poor Frog!
A pond frog stares up at the skies
nothing falls but dust in his eyes
the drought was historic;
the pond was rhetoric;
he gives one last croak and he dies
Capricious Clouds
Clouds float overhead
carry off our hopes of rain
cheering other folks
