my sweet peas
bloom on the widow’s side
where they’re needed
Friends
Shoes
we returned the shoes
she bought to dance in after
her last treatment

Gold Standard
the miner’s tin perk
cheering body and soul
a gold standard
Left Behind
the cry of someone
left behind on the path
a keening wind
Around the Hearth
around the hearth
menfolk fix the world
women darn socks
Snow Angels
snow angel girls
brush feathers from their faces
with snow-caked mitts
Check!
bishop guarding king
falls before advancing knight
old codger says “Check”
Day at the Fair
a day at the fair
cotton candy spinning
threads in my memory
🙂
