HAHAHA! I’m not sure I understand that “holstered his gun” part, but what I DO understand has me laffing like a lunatic! Thanks!

He’s sleeping with his boots still on and his gun right beside his hand. He hasn’t put it back in his holster, nor can he sleep peacefully, in case the Law catches up with him.

Read it over your way — now I’m laughing. It could work, though; change the last line to sheaths his claws. But there are still those boots to deal with… 🙂

“Boots” is commonly used to describe feet on a dog or cat or horse that are of a different color from the rest of the animal. We even had a chow named boots for this very reason when I was just a boy.
